One-Business Rule

Pick one. Give it a fair chance. Learn what works.

What it is
A personal commitment to work on one business, one offer and one main traffic source for a set trial period, with a parking lot for new ideas.
Why it matters
You only learn what works by staying with something long enough to see results and improve. Switching resets the clock every time.
The problem it solves
Shiny-object syndrome: starting many things, finishing none, and concluding that nothing works when really nothing was given time.

How to use it, step by step

Step 1: Name your one business
Use your Opportunity Filter winner. Write it as one sentence: who you help and how.
Step 2: Set a trial period
Choose 90 days. Put the start and review dates in your calendar.
Step 3: Define what counts as doing the work
For example: three posts, two conversations and one improvement per week.
Step 4: Start a parking-lot list
When a new idea tempts you, write it down. Do not act on it until the review date.
Step 5: Tell one person
Share your commitment with someone who will ask how it is going.
Step 6: Review honestly on the date
Look at what you did and learned. Decide: continue, adjust or choose a different business with eyes open.

A practical example

An invented example for illustration. Dev commits for 90 days to helping local gyms with simple social media posts. Midway, he is tempted by a dropshipping video and a crypto course. He adds both to his parking lot. At day 90 he reviews: he had 14 conversations and 3 small customers, and he learned which posts get replies. He decides to continue and the parking lot stays untouched.

Your ten-minute exercise

Write your commitment: For the next 90 days, I will work on [one business]. I will review on [date]. Until then, new ideas go on my parking lot. Sign it and put today's date.

Common mistakes

Quitting at the first dip
Early weeks are slow for almost everyone. Judge at the review date, not on a bad day.
Secretly running three businesses
If it is not your one business, it goes on the parking lot.
Never reviewing
A trial without a review is just drifting. Hold the date.
